About Flowers

Roses, the most popular flowers in the world are England's national flower. The Thistle is Scotland's, the Shamrock is Northern Ireland's, and the Daffodil is Wales'.

In fact every nation in the world has its national flower to symbolize the beauty of the country it represents and flowers it is abundant with.

Flowers are best known for their ornamental quality and scents. They are usually given to show affection, with qualities associated with certain varieties and colours. Red Roses are given to show amorous love, Carnations to express bereavement, Daisies represent innocence and purity, and yellow flowers like Sunflowers to show friendship and happiness.

Flowers play a great role in many social events such as weddings, funerals and christenings. People may spend as much as a fifth of their budget for flower arrangements in these events.

The scents that flowers carry are also the inspiration of perfumes and colognes. Some use real flower oils gathered from crushed petals and are used for aromatherapy to induce certain reactions from the body, ranging from refreshed to relaxed. Lavender oil is used in many alternative medicines to cure migraines and body pains, and even acne and bites from insects.

However, in plants, they serve more purpose as they carry the reproductive role to ensure the propagation of the species.
